Valeria Quijada serves as the Assistant Director of the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships, where her primary goal is to provide comprehensive guidance to students regarding the array of scholarship opportunities available to them.
Originally hailing from Mexico but predominantly raised in Tucson, Ms. Quijada holds a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and Spanish Literature from the University of Arizona. Throughout her academic journey, she actively engaged in numerous student clubs, completed three diverse internships at local organizations, held part-time positions on campus, and immersed herself in Brazilian language and culture during a six-week study abroad program. As a Gilman Scholar herself, she intimately understands both the challenges and rewards associated with competitive scholarships.
Drawing from her experience as both an alumna of the University of Arizona and a member of the university staff, Valeria possesses a profound understanding of the myriad offerings and opportunities available to students. Guiding students on their academic and professional journeys brings her immense satisfaction.
In her leisure time, Ms. Quijada relishes moments spent with family and friends, indulging in the company of her two dogs, exploring new destinations, delving into captivating books, and savoring diverse culinary experiences.
